A MUM whose 12 year-old son had open heart surgery has set up a fundraising campaign to give free photoshoots to other families who have gone through a similar experience.

Lynette Blackie said she wanted to give people a special gift to celebrate their “little fighters”.

The mum, who runs a photography business taking pictures of new born babies, said she will do the photoshoots for free but has set up a crowdfunding page to pay for framed prints to give to the parents.

Lynette’s son Mark has just had his second round of heart surgery and said she knows he pressure that it puts families under.

She said: “We have decided between us that it would be a great idea to offer free photoshoots to children post heart surgery, this would give parents something to look forward to after being through such an experience.

“I am the owner of Pasha Photography, I specialise in new born photography but also shoot older kids and families.

“I will be shooting the free sessions, we are looking for a little funding to allow us to also give families a nice free framed print of their special little fighters, which they can cherish forever.”

She decided to start teh JustGiving page after meeting with other parents while Mark was being treated by staff at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Mark said he wanted to do something to help and between them the decided on the photography gifts

She said the money raised will pay for fliers to let parents know about the free service and printing and framing of the photos.

She has a target of £400 and has so far raised £230 with donors backing her project.

Ms Blackie added: “After this recent experience, Mark has said that he would like to give a little bit back to the children and families who have also experienced a child undergoing open heart surgery.”

One message on the page read: “Mark you are a very brave young man, this will be amazing for other kids who have to go through heart surgery.”
