These are the images which show the extent of a blaze which consumed a popular West End gourmet sandwich shop.

Staff at Piece in Argyle Street posted the jaw-dropping pictures onto the shop’s Facebook page which show the inside of the business blackened and charred out.

Remaining upbeat and looking to the future, though, the team described on Wednesday how “Piece 1 is in the past and Piece 2 starts today.”

Builders have now started to demolish what was left, with “a brand spanking new shop” set to open at the end of this month.

Glasgow Times:

The team told their customers: “Thanks for the lovely messages of support and the general p***-taking about whose fault the fire was. We’ll be back soon, prepare yourselves Finnieston…”

The Evening Times first reported on the fire three weeks ago.

Staff, at the time, confirmed a faulty fridge was to blame for the incident which saw four appliances rush out to deal with the late-night fire.

For hungry customers who usually head along to the shop for the lunch, the Piece guys will temporarily set up shop next to Skypark tomorrow (Friday, October 6).

From 12pm, a selection of sandwiches, chilled drinks, and crisps will be available to buy from Wilson’s Catch of the Day fishmonger in Houldsworth Street.

Piece opened its first store in Argyle Street in 2008 and has quickly thrived as a chain with outlets in streets Miller, West Regent, and Albion as well as in The Whisky Bond in Dawson Road.
