Emergency services have rushed to deal with a car which burst into flames in the Gorbals this evening.

The incident is believed to have taken place in Naburn Gate close to Blackfriars Primary School just before 6pm.

Images posted on social media show flames and smoke billowing out of the front section of a white Audi.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said one appliance was dispatched to the scene at 5.57pm.

She added that there was nobody else at the scene and that no injuries were reported.

Witness and Evening Times Camera Club member at the scene, Alisdair Woodburn, said online: “Spectacular car fire in the Gorbals tonight. Great response from Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland. Both dealt with it quickly and safely.”

He later added: “Ironic that I spend all week looking for photo opportunities and this happens outside my house.”
