DETAILS for popular firework displays in Dumbarton and Clydebank have been unveiled.

West Dunbartonshire Council is hosting the popular displays on Saturday, November 4 at Levengrove Park in Dumbarton and on Sunday, November 5 at Clydebank’s Dalmuir Park with both events starting at 7pm.

Admission to each event is free and along with the great fireworks, there will be children’s fun fair rides and stalls selling hot food.

The displays, delivered by Highlight Pyrotechnics, will have a net explosive content of more than 220kg and are expected to attract around 5,000 spectators per event. The 20-minute shows will feature a range of fireworks, including comets, mines, spinners, hummers, whistles, strobes and dragon’s eggs which will light up the sky in an array of colours.

Visitors are advised to arrive in plenty of time and, if possible, walk to the event or use public transport.

Many of the streets around the parks will also have parking restrictions in place.

The local authority is also urging people not to bring their own fireworks or sparklers as these can present a safety issue within large crowds.

Leave pets at home is the other message for visitors attending the events.

Councillor Jim Finn, Chairman of West Dunbartonshire Leisure Trust, which is staging the event on behalf of the council, said: “Our fireworks displays are among our most popular events and are attended by thousands of visitors every year.

“Given the popularity of the events, I would encourage people to turn up early and enjoy the entertainment and great atmosphere prior to the start of the displays. I would also encourage visitors to ensure they adhere to parking restrictions and rules on sparklers and fireworks to ensure we have a fun, safe event for everyone to enjoy.”

Councillor Iain McLaren, Convener of Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development, added: “I would encourage people to come along to our official displays instead of having their own fireworks. Along with saving money, our events offer a safe, family-friendly environment where you will be treated to a breathtaking display. In addition to the main display we also have a great range of family entertainment before and after the main event. Admission is free to our events so you will be guaranteed a memorable display with outstanding fireworks that won’t cost you a penny.”

The build-up at both Levengrove Park and Dalmuir Park starts at 7pm and both firework displays start at 7.30pm prompt.

Visitors are asked to arrive at the events in plenty of time to avoid disappointment, adhere to parking restrictions in and around the venues and follow advice from the stewards at all times.
