A MURDER suspect “shrugged” when confronted about what happened to a man he is accused of killing.
Robert Leatham had been quizzed by his half brother amid claims he stabbed Steven Russell.
The 32 year-old is charged with fatally knifing Mr Russell after it is alleged the pair had a row about Leatham's mother.
He denies at the High Court in Glasgow murdering the 20 year-old in the city's Possilpark in February 10 this year.
Leatham's half-brother Alan Dearie gave evidence via video link.
Jurors heard Leatham and Mr Russell had been “arguing over the phone”.
It was claimed there was then a confrontation in the street between the men on the day of the alleged murder.
Mr Dearie – who was also at the scene – said Leatham “pulled out a knife and stabbed” Mr Russell.
Prosecutor Stewart Ronnie asked what then happened.
The witness replied: “I tried to run after him to get him to stop and that was when Steven fell.”
The teenager recalled Mr Russell lying on the road and his half brother walking off.
Mr Dearie was later shown a statement he gave to police in June this year.
He told officers about seeing Leatham shortly after the alleged killing.
It was noted in the statement: “I said to Robert: “what have you done?' and he just shrugged'.”
Leatham – along with 28 year-old Laura Graham – also denies a charge of attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
The trial, before Judge Lady Rae, continues.
