THE son of a man serving life for a gangland shooting has been attacked outside his home.

Raymond Anderson, 32, was attacked by a man with what is believed to a machete, outside his flat in Drumchapel on Friday evening after seven o’clock.

His father is Raymond Anderson Snr, who was convicted of a gangland shooting in 2006 at the Applerow Motors garage in Lambhill, which left one man, 21-year-old Michael Lyons, dead and another two with gunshot wounds.

He is serving a minimum of 35 years for the killing – the longest sentence handed down by the courts in Scotland.

Anderson Jnr was attacked outside his flat in Tallant Terrace and he tried to get into his home but the attacker followed him.

Mr Anderson was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with arm and leg injuries.

A 57-year-old woman, believed to be the man’s mother, was also injured in the attack.

A police spokeswoman said:“We received reports that a man had been injured following a serious assault outside his house in Tallant Terrace, Drumchapel, on Friday.

“The man attempted to make his way back into his house but the attacker followed him.

“As a result of the incident, the 32-year-old man sustained lacerations to his arm and leg.”

“Enquiries carried out so far have revealed that this appears to have been a targeted attack and enquiries are ongoing.”

A man was stabbed in a separate incident 350 yards away on the same evening.
