A young North Lanarkshire man who died after being found unconscious on waste ground was warned of his death by a pal - four months ago.

Jack Wilson was found with serious head injuries at a derelict site in Holytown on Saturday but died in hospital on Monday.

In June, the 20-year-old's friend Rose Cairns responded to a post about losing his phone on Facebook.

Jack wrote: "Losing my phone is brutal."

But Rose replied: "It will be more than your phone you'll be loosing if you don't stop your b****y carry on, boy-o, and get your head togehter.

"I don't want to be going to your funeral any time soon."

Celtic fan Jack, from Newarthill, was found unconscious around 10pm on Saturday, October 14 at Keir Hardie Avenue.

Jack, who was a proud uncle, was taken to Wishaw General Hospital with serious head injuries but died on Monday.

Friends have already begun to take to social media to express their shock and sorrow at the death of the former Brannock High School pupil.

Courtney Dyet wrote: "Rest easy Jack Wilson?? Another life gone too soon. So sad ?? Thinking of all the family at this sad time."

Samantha Fisher added: "Rest in peace Jack Wilson, far too young. "Thoughts go out to all the family, it must be hell.

"You know what, this is hell. Til we meet again."

Pal Caitlin McMullen also wrote her tribute on Facebook

She said: "Can't believe I'm writing this.

"RIP Jack Wilson, thoughts are with the family."

Cops have arrested a 15-year-old boy in connected with the incident and he is expected to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Police Scotland said a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
