Police are hunting a gang of youths who attacked a man in Whiteinch.

Around four or five youths targeted a 46-year-old man as he was walking along Lime Street around 4.30pm on Wednesday.

The man became involved in an altercation with the group who followed him into Dumbarton Road.

An object was then thrown at the man resulting in him sustaining a head injury.

Emergency services attended and the man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where medical staff say he is in a stable condition.

Detectives are collecting CCTV footage from in and around the area for additional information on the suspects.

Detective Constable Jennifer Adams said: “We don’t know why this man was targeted by these youths and he has suffered a serious head injury.  

“This behaviour won’t be tolerated and we will be utilising a number of resources to trace the youths responsible.

“A lot of people will have been in the area around the time of this incident and I’m sure people will have noticed these youths.  

“I’m appealing to anyone who may have seen them or who may have any information about them to contact police.”

Anyone with information is asked to call officers at Drumchapel Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 2222 of 18 October 2017.
