A WOMAN ended up with a broken nose after her friend assaulted her following a boozy girls night out.

Jacqueline Kelly, 25, appeared in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after she pleaded guilty to the assault.

She admitted that she repeatedly punched and kicked the woman on her head and body to her severe injury.

The attack happened at a flat on Kenmure Street in Shawlands on April 17, last year.

The court heard from the Procurator Fiscal depute that Kelly and her victim had become close friends through working together at a Salvation Army shop.

The pair had arranged a night out which involved them drinking alcohol in the Pandora pub.

The Procurator Fiscal depute told the court that the victim had suggested another friend join them on the night out but Kelly was against the idea.

When they returned to the flat, where Kelly’s parents stayed, it was around 1am.

The victim started to feel unwell and began vomiting in a bucket. She called her boyfriend to explain how she was feeling and he told her to call NHS 24.

The victim then decided she wanted to leave but Kelly refused her request.

She grabbed the victim’s phone when she was calling a taxi and threw it.

The assault then took place before Kelly’s parents intervened.

The procurator Fiscal depute told the court that the victim was hysterical and crying following the incident.

Kelly’s defence agent told the court that his client had no explanation for what happened. He added that the incident was a serious matter.

The court then heard that the victim no longer works with Kelly, who has remained in her position.

Sheriff Lindsay Wood addressed Kelly about the “terrible assault” and said, “That will scar that woman for the rest of her days.”

Kelly, of Battlefield Avenue, will be placed under supervision for one year and she must get alcohol counselling. She will do 200 hours of unpaid work in the community. She will also pay her victim £600.
