STILL Game star Sanjeev Kohli will host an event which has been organised to raise funds for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.

The All In For Rohingya event will take place at Oran Mor in Glasgow on November 4. It has been organised to raise awareness of the desperate plight of the Rohingya Muslims fleeing Myanmar.

Glasgow businessman Sanjay Mahju, who is owner of the Ashoka Restaurant Group, and director Uzma Mir-Young have joined forces to organise the cross cultural charity event which will see Scottish personalities and musicians come together.

The pair say they felt compelled to take action after seeing reports of the Rohingya crisis. They were horrified at the images of woman and children fleeing their burning villages, the diabolical conditions within the refugee camps and the stories of violence towards the Rohingya Muslims.

The funds raised for Medecins Sans Frontieres will buy much needed supplies for the refugee camps.

Uzma Mir-Young said: "We hope to raise some serious cash to help Medecins Sans Frontiers and partners NGO keep up their good work helping the refugees, by using music to bring people of all communities together. Sanjay has covered all the costs of the night to ensure every single penny from ticket sales and funds raised on the night will go to our nominated charities."

The evening will be hosted by Sanjeev Kohli, famed for playing Navid in Still Game, and journalist Kawser Quamer, with music from Raag and Tonic, The Violet Kind and The Bhangra Beatles.

Human rights lawyer Aamer Anwar has shown his support of the event and will speak on the night.

Sanjeev, who is Sanjay's cousin, said: "I'm really looking forward to this event and hope we can raise serious funds to help some of the Rohingya refugees fleeing for their lives. And if I get to sing The Beatles with Sanjay as well, that will make it the perfect evening."
