Tennis fans are being given the chance to get their hands on a racket used at this year’s Wimbledon Championships while raising money for a Glasgow charity.

Andy Murray has launched an online charity fundraising auction featuring his signed racket to raise money for Govan-based charity Sunny-sid3up.

The former Wimbledon champion announced the fundraising drive in the build up to next month’s Andy Murray Live event at The SSE Hydro, which will see him taking on Roger Federer.

The online auction will run until Monday November 6 with all proceeds going to the Glasgow charity and Unicef.

Other items up for grabs include a signed racket used by Ivan Lendl, tickets for the 2018 Ryder Cup, Anthony Joshua’s signed boxing glove and an item of Little Mix memorabilia, as well as many more.

Andy Murray said: “Last year’s Andy Murray Live raised £305,000 for charity and our plans for this year are even more ambitious.

“By taking part in the auction you will be supporting this year’s two charities – children’s charity Unicef and Glasgow-based, Sunny-sid3up. I really appreciate your support.”

Tony Feeney, brother of Sunny-sid3up founder, Chris Feeney, said: "My brother Chris would have been very proud that his dedication to those less fortunate than himself had been recognised in this way.

"The funds from Andy Murray Live will allow us to make a real difference to those in need – not just close to home but also in Sri Lanka where we continue with the good work started by Chris after the Boxing Day Tsunami."
