A MAN has been injured after stopping to help someone he thought was in trouble in Cambuslang.
Andrew William Smith was walking through Quarryfield Park, between Saliva Street and Dukes Road, on Friday when the incident took place.
Smith, 29, said he was on his way to his mum's for dinner when he heard a man shouting for help.
After walking over to see if he needed help, the man “spun around” and slashed the victim across the cheek.
Andrew took to social media to share his ordeal.
His post has been shared 570 times by concerned residents and wellwishers.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At around 7pm on Friday, October 20, we received a report of a man being assaulted by another man within Quarryfield Park in Cambuslang.
"Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to Hairmyres Hospital and released after treatment.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
