Hundreds of hungry Glaswegians have queued for hours to get their hands on FREE fish and chip suppers.

To mark the 30th anniversary of The National Fish & Chip Awards, Kingfisher Fish & Chips - the number one fish and chip shop in the UK - descended upon George Square to serve up portions of the perfect fish and chips.
The chip van was open from noon until 2pm and it was first come first served.

However, demand was so high that the queue for free scran snaked around the square.
The van will be visiting four more destinations around the UK over the next couple of weeks.

The National Fish & Chip Awards are known as the Oscars of the fish and chips world.
