A CARER who kicked off at cops and brandished an axe at them has narrowly avoided jail.
Glasgow Sheriff Court was told that 39-year-old Paul Morier had engaged fully with alcohol addiction services since the incident at an address in Meiklehill Road, Kirkintilloch, on September 16, last year.
Morier admitted acting in a threatening manner towards a police constable and two sergeants by shouting, swearing and presenting an axe to the trio during the execution of their duties. The accused, of Meiklehill Avenue in Kirkintilloch, was said to be his mother’s carer and applies himself completely to the role.
Sheriff William Totten sentenced Morier to a Restriction of Liberty Order in which he will have to remain at home between the hours of 7pm and 7am for five months as a direct alternative to custody.
