A MAN who tried to save a dying East Kilbride teenager after she was hit by a car is fundraising in her memory.

Thomas Marshall has launched a fundraising page following the death of 15-year-old Megan Scott.

The married father-of-two attempted to help Megan after she was struck by a car at a pedestrian crossing in East Kilbride on October 18.

The teenager was sadly pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Thomas, from Hamilton, said he wanted to start the campaign for her family who have given their blessing for it to go ahead.

Fiona Lawlor, Megan's mum, has requested that the money raised be donated to the Schiehallion ward at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow as Megan spent a lot of time in there when she was younger.

The Calderglen High School pupil was diagnosed with leukaemia as a child and went into remission in 2012.

So far, more than £400 has been raised in her name.

A post by Thomas on the page reads: "I know this seems a bit strange some one doing this sort of thing that didn't know her or the family the only reason I am doing this is because I tried to help Megan at the road side but unfortunately I couldn't so I would like to try and help now in any way I can.

"I have just been in touch with Megan's family and they are happy to let the fundraiser run and further more all money raised will be donated to the Schiehallion ward."
