A MOTORWAY has been reopened following a police incident.

As reported, the M8 had to be fully closed after a man made his way on to the gantry between the Cardonald and Hillington junctions.

Drivers faced a nightmare trying to get home Following the 4pm incident.

Despite the motorway reopening 50 minutes later, rush hour traffic across the city was causing major delays.

The main arteries in and out of the city, as well as minor roads were all jammed and commuters told of how usually short journeys were taking three-times as long.

One driver said: "It is total chaos. It took me an hour to drive what would normally be a 20-minute journey, and all the routes were crazy busy."

Meanwhile, train passengers were also affected after a car drove on to the railway line at Bowling.

The vehicle was on the line for around 45 minutes, and was finally removed at 5.30pm yesterday.

However Scotrail said it expected disruption to last until around 8pm, with several routes being affected.

In a statement last night Scotrail said: "Our staff on site have removed the car and we've inspected the track for damage. We're now able to run trains normally.

"We're working hard to put a full schedule back in place but be prepared for services being disrupted for the next few hours due to trains and crews being out of place."
