Confused Glasweigians have taken to twitter to question why some Glasgow streets looked like the Big Apple today.

Several streets have been cordoned off to make way for the filming of a new Sky Atlantic series starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

As reported by the Evening Times, the Sherlock star himself will be appearing in Glasgow this weekend to film scenes for his role in the mini-series, Melrose.

Several yellow taxi cabs have been spotted in the city aswell as American flags and payphones.

Twitter user @Dereksoo5 said: "Am I in Glasgow or New York, confused."

While user @_heatherallan added an image of the cabs alongside the caption: "Anyone know what they're filming in Glasgow?"

Road closures due to the filming are set to cause distruptions across the city until November 1.
