GRAEME MURTY was pleased Rangers could give the travelling support a reason to celebrate at Murrayfield on Saturday.

The Gers were cheered on by a 14,000-strong following as a Kenny Miller double and Josh Windass strike earned all three points against Hearts.

Victory over Craig Levein’s side ensured Rangers ended a difficult week on a high note following the defeat to Motherwell, draw with Kilmarnock and sacking of boss Pedro Caixinha.

And interim boss Murty hopes the Light Blues can continue to harness the backing from the stands after his side earned a deserved victory in the Capital.

He told RangersTV: “It was incredible and it was amazing to see. When you come out and you hear that sound, it must give the players a lift and make them realise the stature of the club they play for.

“If we can get them to understand what we are trying to do and the direction we want to take the club in, then it is like having an extra player.

“They are that passionate, they are that positive and if we can get them positive at all times then it is only good for the players and I would encourage all the fans just to remain in that positive mindset as what you saw was the players putting a proper shift in today, they stood up and I am really pleased for them going and getting that result.”
