MICHAEL O’NEILL insists he won’t lose focus on the job in hand with Northern Ireland after being touted for a move to Rangers.

The 48-year-old is preparing for the World Cup play-off double-header with Switzerland next month as he looks to lead his side to the finals in Russia.

His efforts for his country have seen him linked with a number of other positions in recent years and he has now been quoted by bookmakers regarding the top job at Ibrox.

O’Neill said: “Listen, it is not a distraction for me at all. It has constantly been there and it is not something that I pay much attention to.

“My focus is here and to try and get my country to the World Cup finals. What may or may not happen after that is in the lap of the football Gods to be honest.

“Look, it is always nice to be linked with jobs but it is not something that I have given very much thought to at all.

“The focus has purely been, since the draw, on Switzerland, the strengths and weaknesses of Switzerland and making sure my own players stay fit.

“I have an anxious few days on that side of things so I have enough to worry about without worrying about anything else.”
