A MAN has been shot while working on his car within a farm in Bridge of Weir.

The targeted attack happened while the 41-year-old was in a farmyard at Crosslee Farm at around 2.30pm on Tuesday.

Cops say he sustained an injury after he was shot from behind.

He was rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, where medical staff describe his condition as stable.

The targeted attack is being treated by cops as attempted murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Fil Capaldi said: "The motive for this attack is not clear, however, we do believe the victim was the intended target.

"While the farm is in a rural location, there were several people visiting the farm for various reasons throughout the morning and afternoon, and I am appealing to anyone who was there or has any information that could assist our enquiries to get in touch."

The investigation so far has revealed a dark green coloured, saloon type car, occupied by three or four men, was seen in the area and made off immediately after the shooting, towards Barochan Road (B789).

Detectives say they will be checking CCTV footage in the surrounding areas for additional information on the car and the occupants.

They urged anyone who say this car to also get in touch.

Anyone with any information is asked to call officers at Paisley Police Station, quoting incident number 1793 of 31 October 2017. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
