Kieran Tierney signed a 6-year-deal this week - and joked that he wished it could have been for longer.

The youngster has insisted that he could be a one-club man after signing a lucrative new deal this week.

The 20-year-old was offered an extension to a contract that he signed just last year as Celtic fended off interest from various parties.

Tierney has been scouted repeatedly by Spurs this year in the Champions League, while Arsenal and Manchester City have also kept a close eye on him.

However, while the expectation is that he will move on eventually, Tierney has insisted that he has no thoughts of moving anywhere at the minute.

“I had no doubts about signing a long term deal - I wish it was longer," he smiled. It’s brilliant for me and my family. I’m buzzing, everyone is buzzing. It’s a great feeling, the same as it was when I signed last year.

"I am in no rush to leave. I think everybody can see that from signing a long-term deal. I am very happy at Celtic. It is football, you never know where a career is going to take you.

"But as I said, I am happy just now.

"Yeah there is, every chance. I hope," he continued when asked if he could stay at Celtic for the duration of his career. "I have been here 13 years already and that is a long time. There is no doubt about – I could be. We will see what happens. I hope I can stay here as long as I can, and keep playing."

Meanwhile, Tierney has revealed that home comforts are still paramount despite signing a lucrative new Celtic contract this week.

Tierney bought his parents a house last year when he initially signed an extension to his contract and should he continue to develop in the same vein, he will be have a significant portfolio by the time he retires.

For now, though, the left-back is content to stay home at his folks' pad as he concentrates all his energises on football.

And the youngster has insisted that staying at home with his parents and beside his childhood friends ensures he never gets the chance to get too big for his boots.

"As soon as I got my deal the last time, I bought a house for my mum and dad," he said. "That was the one thing I always wanted to do.

“I still live at home with them - I’ll be there for a few years yet. I can’t do anything for myself yet!

“We still live in Motherwell, a couple of minutes from where we lived before.

“It keeps me grounded in some ways, living under the same roof as your mum and dad. They are still in charge. I don’t plan on moving out for a good few years yet.

“I try not to get big-headed, so hopefully they don’t have to ever bring me back down to earth.

“I’ve got them, as well as a lot of good friends, who would tell me if I ever got out of line or too big-time. Most of my friends are apprentices and still living at home.

"My mum still says I leave my dishes in the room or don’t bring my washing down," he joked. "It’s just always been like that. Nothing has changed with my family. It’s all good."
