COPS have launched a major search for a young man who vanished from hospital after receiving a treatment.

Chris Mitchell, 33, took off from the Glasgow Royal Infirmary at around 12.15pm today.

The force said that he received medicine during his time at the hospital which may wear off.

The missing man is originally from the Airdrie and Coatbridge areas but he also has links to the East End of Glasgow.

He is described as 5ft 9 inches, of stocky build, with dark cropped receding hair.

When Chris was last seen, he was wearing a green Armani t-shirt, grey jogging bottoms and blue training shoes.

Inspector Gordon Coburn said: "Chris had received medicine whilst at the Infirmary this afternoon and it is imperative that we trace him as this will soon wear off and he may be left tired and confused.

"He is also not dressed for the weather so concern is mounting for him as time passes.

"We know that he had been dealing with personal issues lately and recently had a low mood.

"We are searching the area of around the Glasgow Royal Infirmary however we would ask anyone who recognises his description and his image to please contact police immediately via 101, quoting incident number 0473 of Monday 6 November."
