A DISGUSTING drunk threatened to infect a woman with hepatitis B and C by biting and spitting in her face.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court, Daniel Girvan pleaded guilty to a number of charges.

On November 7 last year, the 43-year-old kicked off at Main Street Medical Centre in Bridgeton when he was told he would not be able to get a prescription for painkillers for 24 hours.

He told the staff to "f**k off", continued to shout and swear, and refused to leave the premises despite being repeatedly asked to do so.

The police were called after Girvan threatened one of the employees: "I'm gonna f**king murder you."

The accused also lost his temper at Bridgeton's Job Centre on August 22 this year.

The fiscal depute told the court that it was around 2.10pm when the accused attended for an appointment to obtain Employment and Support Allowance.

During his meeting with a woman, Girvan became agitated, aggressive and vocal. The female worker asked the accused to calm down, stating that she would only go through the entire application if he stopped swearing at her.

Girvan then claimed to have hepatitis B and C and threatened to infect her by biting her and spitting on her face.

When asked why he was acting in a menacing manner, the accused replied that he was a schizophrenic and was going to commit suicide.

Another JobCentre staff member intervened and asked Girvan to make another appointment. He responded: "Why do I need another appointment, I'm going to commit suicide."

The accused left the centre, but then returned to remark: "Nice building, while it still stands."

Girvan was escorted out and later apprehended by police. While waiting on Bridgeton's Main Street for transport, the accused became intimidating towards the officers. He put his face up to one and threatened to bite him and infect him with hep B.

In defence it was claimed that alcohol played a massive part in Girvan's bad behaviour.

The sitting sheriff told Girvan: "You are the author of your own misfortune."

The case was adjourned until February 5, 2018. Girvan, of Gallowgate, was told to seek help for his alcohol issues and warned to keep himself out of trouble in the interim.
