A MAN was spat on and attacked on the Subway after he challenged two men who were singing offensive songs.

British Transport Police are now hunting for the attackers who set upon the man after a football match in Glasgow on Saturday.

The victim boarded the subway at around 8.10pm following the Rangers FC vs Partick Thistle FC football match at Ibrox stadium.

On the train, two men began singing offensive songs, and the victim and his friends challenged them.

One of the offenders then spat at the victim, who is aged in his fifties, before both assaulted him, punching him repeatedly on the head and body. The pair then ran away.

The victim sustained severe bruising and swelling to his face and eye, and was taken to hospital for treatment.

British Transport Police released images of both suspects. The first suspect is white, of slim build, with short brown hair. He was wearing a black Adidas hooded fleece with white stripes on the sleeve, dark jogging bottoms and white trainers.

The second suspect is white, of slim build, with dark hair. He was wearing a light-coloured hooded jacket, black trousers and dark shoes.

Officers said they would like to speak to anyone who has any information about the incident, or who knows who the offenders are.
