CITY cops are warning about a Netflix email scam which has been set up to acquire sensitive information.
Those behind the scam target potential victims by informing them that their Netflix account has been suspended.
An e-mail, which claims to be from the popular streaming website, states: "We were unable to validate your billing information for the next billing cycle of your subscription therefore we'll suspend your membership if we do not receive a response from you within 48 hours."

The e-mail then invites potential victims to restart their membership by submitting personal information - but it is part of a phishing scam.
Phishing is when criminals use fake e-mails or web links to acquire sensitive personal information, such as passwords, usernames, or bank account details.
Police Scotland said this is then used to commit fraudulent or even criminal acts in your name, leaving you responsible for the consequences. Such e-mails and linked websites often appear genuine but are designed to trick people into entering personal details to access your identity, steal from your bank account or infect your computer with a virus which allows them to control your system.

Cops in the city's East End warned about the scam and issued residents with warning signs to spot.
E-mails used in the scams are usually threatening and state that urgent action is required. Generic terms like 'dear account holder' are used.
