WEST enders have been left slightly baffled over instructions written on traffic lights in Kelvinbridge.

Located at Great Western Road, outside the Websters Theatre, is a set of traffic lights with instructions written on them.

Although they read the standard "push button wait for signal" in English, the words are also written in Welsh.

Glasgow West End posted a photo of the traffic light button online alongside the words: "Now all our Welsh speaking chums can cross Great Western Road in safety ... phew."

Weegies have responded with slight confusion at the image.

Karen Shepherd said: "In 54 years I have rarely met any Welsh in Glasgow, and they all speak English.

"I've met loads of Irish here but don't think we should have signs in their Gaelic in Glasgow.

"I'm all for uniting Celts but really? How much money was wasted on this?"

Isabel Rogerson said: "A lot of the road signs are in Gaelic but Welsh in Glasgow?"

Martin Cross added: "Ha, ha! Did they mistake it for Gaelic or is Glasgow expecting an influx of Welsh-speaking visitors?"

However some Welsh folk welcomed the news including Jane Moore who said: "Good for me I’m Welsh and lived in Glasgow for 15 years."

Ian Strangeways added: "Celts of the World unite!"
