A YOUNG man has been placed on the Sex Offenders' Register after groping a woman without consent.
At Glasgow Sheriff Court, Andrew Mackay admitted sexually assaulting his victim by touching her breast and genitals under her clothing at his home address on September 4, 2016.
In defence it was heard that the 22-year-old accused had accepted that he did not have consent following evidence presented to the court at a previous hearing.
Mackay, 22, was said to have deeply regretted his drunken behaviour and has since apologised to the complainer.
The accused's lawyer highlighted that he was a first-time offender, has kept himself out of trouble since the incident, and noted that the conviction will affect his future employment.
Mackay, of Baliol Street, was sentenced to a Community Payback Order with supervision for one year. He was also handed 90 hours of unpaid work to be completed within five months and must adhere to the notification requirements of the Sex Offenders' Register for one year.
