A SCHOOL bus burst into flames on Tuesday morning in South Lanarkshire.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at Carluke High School after a bus became engulfed in flames.
No one was injured during the incident at around 8.40am and Police Scotland said it was not being treated as suspicious.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a bus on fire at Carluke High School at around 8.40am on Tuesday, November 14.
“The incident was dealt with by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and officers are not treating it as suspicious.”
Two appliances were sent from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to tackle the fire.
South Lanarkshire Council said that the 64 pupils were off the bus when the smoke was first detected.
South Lanarkshire Council Head of Education Carole McKenzie said: “The bus was already parked when this incident occurred and the driver ensured all the pupils were safely off the vehicle after smoke was spotted.
"Nobody was hurt in this incident and the driver, school staff and pupils reacted admirably, remaining calm and working together to ensure everyone was safe.”
