A BENEFITS cheat has been ordered to stay out of trouble for the next year.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court, Mandy McShane pleaded guilty to failing to notify the Department for Work and Pensions about a change of circumstances that she knew affected her entitlement to Employment and Support Allowance.

Between March 26, 2013 and May 5, 2014, the accused failed to declare that she was living in a common household with her husband.

The 48-year-old's hubby was in full-time employment and was providing financial support. During that time, McShane claimed £5,000 worth of benefits of which she was not entitled.

Sentence was deferred for a year until November 12, 2018.

McShane, of Holehouse Drive, was told to be of good behaviour and to continue making repayments of the money taken.
