A TEENAGE lout lost control and launched a jacket potato across a room when his mum served him that instead of an egg.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court, the now 18-year-old accused pleaded guilty to throwing the foodstuff and household items at an address in Bishopbriggs on October 23, 2017. The teen admitted shouting, uttering offensive remarks and acting in an aggressive manner towards his mother.

The fiscal depute told the court that the accused lashed out when his mum cooked the potato dish instead of an egg for his supper. The fiscal stated that the accused had an "unpleasant manner" and said some unkind words to his mum.

The teen also pleaded guilty to assaulting his mother on March 13 earlier this year after she phoned his school to complain about his bad behaviour. The accused repeatedly seized her by the neck, kicked her on the body and placed a pillow on her face.

He admitted to the police: "I didn't mean to do it. I got angry, I just lost control. I did it."

In defence it was claimed that the accused was "deeply ashamed" of his actions.

Supported in court by his mother, the youth was keen for the case to be concluded so as he could get back in contact with his mum.

The teen was sentenced to a structured deferred sentence, to which he must be of good behaviour for the next three months.
