The leader of Glasgow City council welcomed the Supreme Court minimum pricing ruling and said that Glasgow will enforce the new pricing regime when it takes effect.
Susan Aitken said: “Price and availability are crucial factors in the alcohol misuse which blights our communities and the lives of individuals.
“It is our role within local government to ensure the pioneering principles underpinning our legislation are upheld and promoted.”
Glasgow has a high number of alcohol related deaths and hospital admissions which it is hoped the policy will help to reduce.
Ms Aitken added: “Minimum pricing will become a valuable weapon in our armoury against misuse.
“And while pricing is not a factor in the gift of Glasgow’s Licensing Board, be assured that when this legislation is in place Glasgow City Council will enforce it.”
