THE bomb squad are at Glasgow's financial district after a suspicious package was found.

Police Scotland and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team were called to Cadogan Street at around 11am today after they were alerted to a suspicious package.

The area is home to top insurance firm Esure and other financial businesses.

But the package appears to have been delivered to Esure. A lane behind the firm's Glasgow headquarters was sealed off with two cops standing guard.

The bomb squad's van was also parked behind the building and appeared to be investigating the package.

It was business as usual for staff at the insurance firm, however, who said they had not be evacuated. 

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “Around 11am on Thursday, November 16, police were called to reports of a suspicious package at a business premises at Cadogan Street in Glasgow.

“Police are at the scene and a cordon is in place. Explosive Ordnance Disposal are attending to examine the package. Enquiries are ongoing."

A spokesman for Esure said: “Police have declared the package safe, and the incident is now closed.”
