A MAN who was caught with wraps of diamorphine has been ordered to undertake unpaid work.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court, John McCourt pleaded guilty to having the Class A drug within his possession in Duke Street on February 4, 2016.

The 26-year-old also admitted failing to appear at court without a reasonable excuse on April 11 and September 12 this year.

The fiscal depute told the court that it was around 11am on the day in question when the accused was stopped by police officers. When searched, he was found to be in possession of wraps of powder – later identified as diamorphine – worth a street value of £80.

McCourt, of Drygate, was sentenced to a Community Payback Order with 200 hours of unpaid work to be completed within eight months.
