Two young football fans coming to terms with the death of their dad were left open-mouthed this week - when two Motherwell FC stars popped round for a special visit.

Aston Hope, aged eight, and his brother Marcus, 10, couldn’t believe it when players Richard Tait and Andy Rose showed up at their Uddingston home.

Sadly, the boys lost their dad Brian - a lifelong Motherwell supporter - in August.

To help them out a little, estate agent McEwan Fraser Legal teamed up with the footballers to make a surprise delivery to the family home.

Ahead of Motherwell’s appearance in the League Cup Final against Celtic, the boys were given four tickets to go to the showpiece finale at Hampden Park on Sunday, November 26.

The emotional visit was all down to their uncle Derek who nominated them as part of an initiative called Home Run which was looking to Motherwell supporters to nominate a family who really deserved the tickets.

A spokesperson from McEwan Fraser Legal said the team was “delighted” to take Richard and Andy to visit Aston and Marcus.

The spokesperson added: “It was an emotional occasion for all of the family at what has clearly been a really difficult time.

“We hope both boys have a really special day and, as proud sponsors of Motherwell FC, that it’s one they’ll remember for the rest of their lives.”
