GLASGOW Museums has taken delivery of an ornate silver gilt casket presented to the industrialist Sir Hugh Reid, managing director of the North British Locomotive Company, in 1917 in recognition of being made a freeman of the city of Glasgow.
Joan Quinn, Sir Hugh’s granddaughter, travelled from Ireland with members of her family to the Riverside Museum, where she delivered the presentation chest to John Messner, Glasgow Museums Curator of Transport and Technology.
