Music fans are being warned to be vigilant at upcoming city shows after a spate of mobile phone thefts.

Cops urged ticketholders to keep their possessions safe after 53 people had their phones stolen while watching Royal Blood in Birmingham.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested for the thefts at Birmingham Arena but Police Scotland have warned that similar activity could happen at the band's upcoming Glasgow show.

Royal Blood will be performing at the SSE Hydro on Friday, followed by Kasabian on Saturday.

Both shows are expected to attract thousands of revellers which could be easy prey for thief's.

Officers in the North West of the city took to Twitter to share their advice, stating: "Attending the Royal Blood or Kasabian gigs at The SSE Hydro this week?

“Have a great night but be vigilant and protect your personal property, particularly phones and wallets – we don’t want people like this ruining your night.”

Pickpockets previously targeted fans at a Korn and Limp Bizkit gig in December last year.

Police Scotland received reports of six phones being stolen at the SSE Hydro show.
