A pensioner is one of four people in police custody after a raid in the north of the city which uncovered firearms and drugs.

Firearms and ammunition were seized during a raid of several addresses in Torr Place, Possilpark.

The intelligence-led operation saw officers execute a search warrant for the properties around 5pm on Tuesday November 21.

During the searches, cocaine, amphetamine paste and cannabis resin worth an estimated street value of £57,000 were uncovered.

Two woman, aged 55 and 58, and a 52-year-old man were arrested and detained in police custody in connection with alleged drugs offences.

A 61-year-old man was also arrested in connection with alleged drugs and firearms offences.

Detective Inspector Jim Biggam, Serious and Organised Crime CID, said: “Drugs and firearms have absolutely no place in our communities and we have specialist teams of officers working on a daily basis to target those individuals who engage in serious and organised crime.

“Intelligence from members of the public is vital to the work our officers do and I would continue to encourage people to pass on information and engage with the police to help us tackle this issue.

“Anyone with information or concerns regarding serious and organised crime in their community can contact their local police station via 101. Alternatively CRIMESTOPPERS can be contacted on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
