A MAN has been given jail time to prevent him from going back to the “predatory environment” of the Bellgrove Hotel.

Scott McLeish appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court after kicking off in the street and at hotel staff.

The 41-year-old was staying at the hostel on August 17 this year when he became aggresive towards two managers.

After being involved in a verbal altercation with the witnesses, stating to them: “I’m white, I’m Scottish and I’m from Glasgow - you can’t tell me what to do”, he went on to call one worker a “p*** b*****d”.

McLeish challenged the shocked witnesses to a fight before picking up a metal pole

Having been removed from the premises, he continued to kick the front door in an attempt to get back in.

On another occasion, McLeish stood outside an address in the Trongate shouting expletives including “I’ll stab you” before being picked up by police.

Appearing from custody at Glasgow Sheriff Court, McLeish pleaded guilty to acting in a threatening and abusive manner.

His solicitor cited the Bellgrove Hotel as a reason for his behaviour, claiming it is a “predatory environment” which “shreds the nerves” and caused the accused to drink excessively.

Sheriff Bonnar ordered McLeish to 100 days in prison as there was no alternative to custody.
