A MAN who was caught trying to smuggle drugs into a music festival claimed he was planning on using them to ‘experiment’.

Stephen Hoy was picked up by sniffer dogs after entering Glasgow Green to attend TRNSMT festival on July 8 this year.

Police pulled the 25-year-old joiner to the side around 2.50pm and informed him that they would be carrying out a search of his person.

Before cops began, Hoy, of North Grange Grove in Edinburgh, confessed that he had drugs hidden within his boxer shorts.

After removing them for officers, a stash including two class A drugs was uncovered. Concealed in his underwear he had five full wraps of cocaine, six yellow ecstasy tablets and small wrap of cannabis.

Hoy was told by officers that he would be subject to a report if the drugs tested positive and ejected from the event.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard how Hoy was allegedly not a regular drug user and had taken the substances to the music festival because he wanted to ‘experiment’.

His solicitor added that her client had admitted to the stash at the earliest opportunity and accepts the seriousness of the offence.

Sheriff Potten ordered Hoy to pay a fine of £400.
