TRIBUTES have poured in following the death of a young Glasgow Tigers Speedway rider.
The club, who are based in North Glasgow, announced that junior rider Greg Mackie has died.
In a statement, Glasgow Tigers Speedway said: "Everyone at the club is devastated with the news that Greg Mackie, one of our junior riders and someone who has been around the club all his life, has sadly passed away.
"Our thoughts and condolences are with the Mackie family, and Greg’s wider family and friends."
The club, who race at Saracen Park, announced the news on Sunday evening.
It is understood that the police informed the young rider's family of his death.
His heartbroken father Colin said: "Today we received the worst news of our lives. The police have informed us of the death of our wonderful son Greg Mackie. We request that we be allowed some time to grieve."
The circumstances surrounding his death is not known but friends took to social media to pay tribute to the young rider.
TalkSpeedway Podcast said: "Everyone at Talk Speedway would like to pass on our condolences to Colin Mackie and his family after learning of the tragic passing of his son, Greg.
"Young Greg was a familiar face around the Glasgow Tigers pits and was a keen rider. We’re all thinking of you at this sad time."
Speedway club Workington Comets said: "Everyone at the Comets would like to pass on our condolences to the friends and family of Greg Mackie, a young Scottish rider, who passed away."
Glasgow Tigers are a motorcycle speedway team who formed in 1928 and compete in the British SGB Championship.
Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
