Glasgow City Council’s gritters have been a familiar sight across the city this week as some of the coldest weather of the season sweeps over the city and its surrounding areas.

Residents looks set to be gearing up for more freezing weather as Scotland continues to brace itself for some of the coldest weather of the year.

The local authority’s vehicles have been make their way across Glasgow to help out motorists and pedestrians.

Glasgow City Council said: “We have been treating footways since early morning and will be back out on the roads this evening, with another cold night ahead.”

As reported by the Evening Times, temperatures are set to plunge across Glasgow and its surrounding areas as snow brings chaos to much of Scotland.

The Met Office has issued yellow warnings for icy patches and snow covering swathes of Scotland.

Police forces across the UK have also issued warnings to drivers to beware of icy roads.
