TWO Clydebank businesswomen are spreading Christmas cheer by offering six elderly people a free festive cleaning package.

As reported by the Clydebank Post, Jennifer Haggerty and Laura Muckle are using their cleaning firm JL Cleaning Services to launch a competition in which Bankies can nominate a deserving pensioner – or themselves – for a free clean, a grocery collection and a Christmas goodie bag featuring mince pies, toiletries and more.

Jennifer, from Duntocher, told the Post: “We felt it was so important for a local company who has been so well supported by the local community to say thank you and this is our way.

“I hate the thought of lonely old souls at Christmas – I would take them all in for the day if I could.

“Christmas for us really is about giving back.

“The elderly community seem to be overlooked, so for us, this was an easy choice.

“As they spend so much of their time indoors sometimes due to ill health or mobility issues we could offer our time and attention to this specific area.”

The 40-year-old and her Old Kilpatrick business partner launched the competition via their Facebook page earlier this month and it will run until December 8, with the winner due to be announced the following day.

Anyone can enter a neighbour, friend or family member who may be isolated, vulnerable or even just a little lonely to spend a bit of time with mum-of-one Jennifer and Laura, 34, over the festive period.

For the businesswomen, who started their firm this year, it’s the first of many ways they plan to give back to the community after noticing a need for a more person-based cleaning business in the area.

Jennifer added: “We seen an opportunity to create a more personal, customer aimed company that could really concentrate on the individual needs of each client.

“We here to offer a free service to our elderly community for one day. As long as your happy to be the point of contact to arrange the visit, then please enter our competition via the Facebook page, you can private message us the persons name for confidentiality.”

To enter the competition, visit the firm’s Facebook page.

Nominations must be made by a person who is able to arrange the visit on behalf of the winner.
