EastEnders actor Davood Ghadami has missed out on a place in the Strictly Come Dancing semi-final as he became the 10th celebrity to leave the show.

Along with his partner Nadiya Bychkova, Ghadami, 35, was eliminated after losing the dance-off with fellow contestant Alexandra Burke.

After the actor performed his Argentine Tango on Sunday’s results show, the judges opted to save X Factor winner Burke.

A score of just 29 had seen Ghadami finish Saturday night bottom of the leaderboard alongside Gemma Atkinson and her professional partner Aljaz Skorjanec.

The soap star said: “I’m so pleased we got so far.

“We got so much further than I thought so it’s definitely mixed feelings here.

“Things get serious the next couple of weeks for the guys that remain and I just wish them all the best and every cloud has a silver lining.

“I get to spend a bit of time with my family now, get to see Nadiya on a recreational basis rather than ‘come on let’s go and dance’.”

Head judge Shirley Ballas had praised elements of the actor’s performance on Saturday, saying that the performance “had some spectacular lifts”.

Ballas also pointed out “stumbling points and some balance issues” in the Argentine tango.

The remaining five couples will now go on to dance in the Strictly Come Dancing semi-final next week.

When asked who he thought would now go on to win the competition, Ghadami said: “Whoever the winner is will be very very deserving.

“Everyone that’s left is a wonderful dancer.

“There are two more dances to tackle and I think anything can happen week by week.

“It’s been a good few weeks for us leading up to this and I’m sure everyone will give it their best.
