TWIN brothers have been jailed after pleading guilty to the supply of controlled drugs.

Twenty two year old Drew Southall was sentenced to 15 months and his twin brother, Adam, was given 11 months.

It came after officers stopped a car in Bell Quadrant, Carfin, Motherwell, in July and recovered a quantity of drugs, believed to be cannabis, from the vehicle.

Officers then searched two homes, a house in Wilkie Drive, Holytown, Motherwell, and a flat in Blyth Place, Barlanark, and recovered further drugs, also believed to be cannabis.

The total value of the find was approximately £55,000.

Detective Inspector Graeme Naysmith of the Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism Unit, Police Scotland, said: “I hope the sentence provided to Adam and Drew Southall serves as a warning to those involved in drug dealing and associated criminality. These individuals have no regard for the harm they cause to communities as their main motivator was making money from their illicit activities.

"Targeting those involved in drugs remains a priority for Police Scotland. People can be assured that we will do everything in our power to rid our communities of drugs."
