A MAN who mixed street Valium with alcohol threw a traffic cone at members of the public in Glasgow city centre, a court has heard.

Jordan Daldry was jailed after he kicked off in the city centre on April 5, this year.

The 21-year-old was in the dock for sentencing for several offences at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

He admitted that he assaulted a man on Royal Exchange Square by punching and kicking him on the head and body.

He also plead guilty to culpably and recklessly throwing a traffic cone at members of the public on Union Street which exposed them to risk of injury.

When police had arrested him, he also committed two further offences on April 6 which he plead guilty to.

He assaulted one police officer and repeatedly attempted to head butt him.

He acted in a racially aggravated manner towards another police officer. He admitted that he shouted and swore at the police officer. He also repeatedly uttered offensive remarks towards him.

The Procurator Fiscal depute told the court that Daldry was caught on CCTV behaving in this manner in Glasgow city centre. He attacked the man in Royal Exchange Square at around 10pm before later throwing the traffic cone in Union Street which narrowly missed members of the public.

When he was arrested, he made several racial comments towards one police officer. He shouted “white power” and “black b*****d” towards the police officer.

Daldry’s defence agent said: “This is a serious matter and he acknowledges that. He is still a young man with underlying issues.”

His defence agent added that Daldry, of Glenkirk Drive, suffered from depression, and had taken alcohol and street Valium prior of the offence. This caused him to have little recollection over what had happened.

Sheriff Frances McCartney sentenced Daldry, who appeared from custody, to 160 days in prison which was reduced from 240 days because of his early plea.
