Police are hunting a thug who left a pensioner with a broken jaw after a callous attack.
The 70-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed in Shawmoss Road, Crossmyloof, on December 7.
The pensioner was standing outside the rear of the Scout Hall around 7.30pm when she was approached by a man.
He then grabbed and forced the woman to the ground before assaulting her and making off with items including jewellery and a mobile phone.
The suspect is described as Eastern European, aged in his late 30s and of slim build with short dark hair and thick eyebrows.
He did not speak English and was wearing a dark coloured jacket with red trim around the neck and white writing on the left side of the jacket and dark coloured trousers.
The injured pensioner eventually summoned help and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he is receiving treatment for serious facial injuries.
Hospital staff describe her condition as stable.
Detective Constable Christopher Sneddon of Helen Street Police Office said: “This was senseless and violent attack on this elderly woman, leaving her with a broken jaw and extensive bruising. "The man responsible has no conscience and must be caught as soon as possible.
“Officers are carrying out enquiries in the local area and studying CCTV footage to gather more information for this investigation.
"Any witnesses, or anyone with information that may assist this police enquiry should contact Helen Street Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 3367 of 7th December. "Alternatively CRIMESTOPPERS can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
