A MAN has been assaulted and robbed of his personal belongings while walking home for a Christmas night out.
The 46-year-old man was on the Kingston Bridge, where it meets Paisley Road West, when he was approached by an attacker unknown to him around 12.30am on Sunday.
The man assaulted the victim before robbing him of his personal belongings.
A member of the public came to his aid before he eventually made his way to Govan police station.
Enquiries are underway to trace the individual responsible who is described as around 6ft in height and spoke with an Eastern European accent.
Detective Constable Shona MacKinnon from the Community Investigation Unit based at Govan said: “This was a despicable attack on an innocent man who had simply been trying to get home from his Christmas night out.
“This abhorrent individual must be caught and I would appeal to anyone who was in the surrounding area in the early hours of this morning and noticed a disturbance or man acting suspiciously to please get in touch.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact the Community Investigation Unit based at Govan via 101, quoting incident number 0199 of Sunday 10 December 2-17. Alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
