Police are hunting two suspects after a man was glassed in the face at a Rutherglen pub.

The 30-year-old man was drinking in the The Wee Mill pub on Baronald Street around 12.55am on Saturday December 9 when he was attacked.

Two men approached the victim before hitting him on the face with a bottle and making off.

The victim was left with a facial injury and had to be treated in hospital.

Police are now searching for two suspects who are described as male and white.

The man who carried out the assault is described as between 30 and 35-years-old, 6ft in height, wearing a beanie hat, a padded gilet and light coloured trousers.

The second is thought to be around 50-years-old, 5ft 4 in height, of slim build with short receding hair. He was wearing a light top and jeans.

Detective Constable Liz McIntosh, Cambuslang CID, said: “We have still to establish exactly why this assault took place, but it would appear that the man in his 50s had been in the bar prior to the assault taking place, left for a short time, returning with suspect who attacked the injured man.

“They both made off from the pub after the attack and the injured man was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he was treated and has since been released.

“The pub was busy that night and we have established that there were a number of people within the Wee Mill at the time of the attack and may have attempted assist the injured man. I am appealing for any witnesses who were present at the time of the assault to contact police as it is vital that we trace the persons responsible for this violent attack.
