A MAN jumped in a stranger’s car before assaulting him, a court has heard.

Andrew Taylor, 22, appeared in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after admitted two assaults.

He plead guilty to assaulting a man by repeatedly punching him on the head at Paisley Road West on April 23, this year.

He also plead guilty to assaulting another man by kicking him on the body.

The Procurator Fiscal depute told the court that both victims, aged 18 and 24, had been on a night out at the nearby Springfield Quay.

The men were in their cars heading along Paisley Road West. When they stopped at the traffic lights, Taylor got into one of the men’s cars and sat down.

The victim asked Taylor what he was doing, and he replied that he was sitting in the car.

The victim then asked Taylor to get out of his car. Taylor refused and then punched the man. The victim then got out of his car and Taylor walked out too, and punched him again.

The man’s friend then got out of his car to assist and he was kicked by Taylor.

Taylor punched the man once more before passer-bys intervened and police were called.

Taylor’s defence agent said his client had been in an argument outside a kebab shop with the man and he took offence to what he said. This resulted in him reacting the way he did.

The court also heard that Taylor is a first time offender and had been in care most of his life. His defence agent said he had no recollection of the attack.

Sheriff Aisha Anwar tagged Taylor, of Cardow Road, for 60 days.
