Glasgow is bracing itself for freezing rain after being hit with the coldest night of the year.
Vast swathes of Scotland fell well below freezing on Monday night with clear skies causing the mercury to drop as low as -6 °C in the city and across its surrounding areas.
Yellow weather warnings for snow and ice are in place for early Tuesday, covering large parts of the country, including Scotland.

Wednesday will be breezy with frequent showers turning wintry at times with more persistent rain sleet and snow likely at the end of the day.
Thursday into Saturday will see the weather remain cold with overnight frosts.
Light winds and showers will take up much of Thursday with the outlook turning dry, but with cold winds, and sunny spells into the weekend.
